created in the memory of our loved one, Giovanni "Joey" Aletriz who was born in Pennsylvania on April 03, 1989 and passed away on February 04, 2006 at the age of 16. We will remember him forever. 
  Hi, I'm Cynthia, Joeys Mom...Joeys Voice. My son Joey Aletriz was killed on 2/4/06, at Summitquest Academy in Ephrata, Pa,while being restrained.  We, at least I, never imagined my son would ever go back to Ephrata for any reason. We talked about it before he left. I asked him "Baby, don't You think it's funny how God is sending you back to where you were born to get your life back on track?" and Joey told me "Yeah, Mom I know, but when I go home things are gonna be better and we are gonna have a good life" but he never made it home... not to our home anyway.  I guess God had to close the circle.
  The physical trauma from the autopsy shows Joey was beaten and died from Positional Asphyxiation which caused his heart to stop from lack of oxygen.     This Phenomena almost always occurs when someone is placed in a Prone{On their stomach) Restraint. The DA in this area is bias and is saying that the staff followed proper policy and procedure in taking my son down. But don't it make sense that if they had, that this healthy 16y/o boy would be alive? But being that he was 6'1 260lbs they had something to prove but he was a boy! He hadn't even acquired his "MAN strength" he was just a big kid. They knew Joey wasn't gonna see his parent for 17 days which would have gave him time to recover from his injuries had he survived. If he had said anything, it would have been

  his word against theirs. Whos gonna believe him he has issues? But they weren't counting on this Mom. Please help me stop this so it can never happen again. Let them know that you can't do this to kids. They MUST be held accountable or they will do it again, because people like this feel kids in these places get what they deserve. But they deserve help without fear of being hurt or killed like Joey was.
